Where I came from

Every arena I have entered, I have found my way to the podium. Provincial football champion, undefeated season. Eight bodybuilding trophies in my first two years of competition, ranked sixth in the country. A divisional basketball trophy from Las Vegas competing two age divisions up. That pattern did not leave me when I traded arenas for sales floors.

I did not come to law from law school. I came from the floor. Twelve years of reading contracts in rooms where the other side was paid to outlast me.

Then a medical crisis. A wrongful termination on protected disability leave, 22 days after I requested workplace accommodations. A denied long-term disability claim with my physician's evidence in the insurer's hands. An illegal detention by federal police at an international border. No lawyer in my corner.

Why I built NomadLaw

I have been on both sides of the legal system: as someone it failed, and as someone who learned to fight back.

After a medical breakdown, I was wrongfully terminated while on protected disability leave. The institution I trusted to have my back turned its back on me. When I challenged the insurance company that denied my long-term disability benefits, I uncovered counsel misconduct and got it on the record, with corroboration.

Then, while entering a country as a digital nomad, I was illegally detained by federal agents. They falsified official documents and attempted to unlawfully repatriate me, two separate criminal offences. I had no lawyer. No one in my corner. So I used AI to self-represent while simultaneously sourcing a lawyer. I handed him everything he needed to file an emergency order halting my illegal repatriation.

We won.

An Air Canada representative is on a recorded call admitting he did not know why the federal police had lied to both of us. Third-party corroboration on the record. Documenting in real time made the difference.

These experiences taught me that the legal system is not inherently broken, but access to it is. If you do not have money, connections, or the right passport, you are invisible.
